Management says about half of total revenue is now data-center-related, guided Q3 to $1.14–1.16B, and raised the 2026 data-center growth floor from 85% to 130%. Capacity is expanding beyond a $6B annual run-rate. Oh, and gross margin sits around 55% — top of the analog class.
That margin is the moat. Power-management design wins are brutally sticky: once a voltage-regulator design is locked into a GPU or server board, it rides that platform for the full 5-to-10-year lifecycle, because swapping it out costs more than the chip itself. Nobody rips out a working regulator to save three dollars. Add the fabless model — MPWR designs, partners manufacture — and you get asset-light compounding with software-like economics and none of the fab-cycle drama.
The competition is the best proof that the trend is real. Texas Instruments, Infineon, ON Semiconductor, Renesas and Analog Devices all chase the same sockets — and ADI is reportedly in talks to buy Empower Semiconductor, a vertical-power-delivery startup. Rivals are literally M&A-ing their way into the exact trend MPWR already sells into, while MPWR sits in the Nvidia supply chain as an established, proven name.
Here's the structural case, and it's the whole thesis: more dollars of power silicon per rack, every single generation. GPUs draw more, racks draw more, and every architecture shift — 48V to 800VDC, horizontal to vertical power delivery — re-opens the socket for whoever owns the design. Monolithic Power doesn't need to win new battles every cycle. It just needs to keep winning the same one, at higher stakes each time.
The bear case is honest and short: the valuation is rich, and the market already knows the data-center story. If AI capex hiccups, or a rival lands a marquee socket, the multiple compresses in a hurry. That's the price of owning the best-positioned pick in the quietest corner of the AI trade — and it's worth paying while the rack count keeps climbing.
